Renata Gombos: unapologetically capturing the beauty of your soul

Of lately, Instagram puts me on edge. So yeah, it’s that time when we decide to go on social detox to keep our sanity.
I am constantly between states of overwhelming (too much information), desperation (too much hate), and self-bullying. I realized that social media has that effect on me too, which, according to the Urban Dictionary, is:
– One who constantly put themselves down or has very low self-esteem.
– One who insults themselves in physical appearance in regards to their intellect.
– A person who thinks and or talks negatively about themselves.
The reason I am always going back to Instagram is that I met so many remarkable people there. Beautiful women like Renata Gombo, with such an inspiring women story, inspire me to start posting and interacting again. She’s pure kindness and delicious authenticity.
And, there’s more to the story. Renata’s crazy talented! The portraits she takes naturally capture human beauty inside-out, the beauty of the soul. Jaw-dropping, to say the least.
Before the pandemic hit, I even had planned to hop on a plane and visit her for my brand photoshoot. But, unfortunately, that dream was denied last year, but I am sure we will meet in person in the near future.
So, take a look below to learn more about her story. Then, don’t hesitate to reach out to Renata to have your personal brand photos taken. After that, we all have a win-win-win: enjoy the beauty of you being unapologetically you with a motivational story of a woman. Her work is work is the best photography blog.

A personal brand—Renata living her art

I would like to create a revolution around…
How people see themselves.
What inspires you…
People who care, kindness is always inspiring to me.
In my work I love classic portraits, clean lines, classic influence. So much inspiration all around from paintings to vogue covers, etc…
My fav person in the world…
My husband and my two boys.
I cherish…
Every moment spent with my family.
I despise…
I try not to use this word. But disrespect, or careless behavior can get me every time, with nature, with each other, any shape or form of it.
Words to live by…
After the past year, I’m trying to tell myself everyday: Today is a good day. Stay in the present, cherish every moment of it. Be present.
The outfit of your life is…
Probably a shirt, jeans and white sneakers. I like to be comfortable above anything else. If I feel comfortable I feel good, if I feel good I feel confident and pretty.
If I was a color I would be…
Blue.
If I was a celebrity I would be…
A singer, or a dancer, maybe an actress. I spent a lot of time performing in school, drama class and university. Sang in two choirs for years.
If I was an animal I would be…
A bear.
If I was a scent I would be…
Something woody, maybe cedar…
If I was a symbol I would be…
A circle.
If I was a word I would be…
Honest.
Are you related to fire, water, air, or earth?
Earth, a very strong earth sign.
I would love to live in…
A world that cares more and feels more.
If I was a season, I would be…
Autumn. I’m an autumn child, I love everything about the season.
I am clean and crisp or artsy and textured or modern or vintage or imperfect or symmetric…
Totally imperfect, artsy and textured. But I like my work to be clean, crisp with a hint of modern artsy.

A personal brand—Renata’s brand story

How did you get here? Is your company founded on a family history that brought you to this point? Or are you blazing your trail?
I have had a camera in my hand ever since I can remember. That turned into something more serious when I was pregnant with my first baby. And I started my own business after he was born.
In my home studio, which really was a corner of my living room, I spent all my money on equipment and marketing materials, workshops and books. Spent all my time educating myself about how to use a pro camera, lighting techniques and lenses, and posing.
Shooting in my backyard, everyone I could get in front of my camera. Shooting at events and doing family photoshoots on the weekends, meanwhile being the mom of two little boys (4 and 6 now).
Working as a waitress part time, raising my kids and photoshoots on the weekends. I think I might be the definition of blazing my own trail…
What inspired you to create your business? Was there a pivotal moment in your life that unleashed a dream or vision?
I don’t think there was a pivotal moment. Everything led to this moment slowly building up. Something always pulled me in this direction, and then I started listening to it and learning more and more about it.
I also love the fact about photography that you never stop learning, it’s an ongoing process, just like painting. You always learn something and get better with every work you do, and your style is also constantly evolving. It’s pure magic.
I grew up in a culture where you really had to make yourself small to be approved of, to be liked. My message in the work I do and I want to do, that you shouldn’t be small and unseen to be liked. You should be just you.
Because everyone has a right to be here, to be themselves, to not hide, to not show up being everything that others want you to be, have the right to shine and be you. I’m here, and I see you.
Why do you do what you do, and why does it matter?
I would like to offer a safe place to anyone who wants to exist in photographs. To let them be themselves, no judgement, no perfection expected of you.
I want to show you how beautiful YOU are, how magical your relationships are. If it’s a brand shoot I want to make you comfortable enough to show your best, confident, happy self.
Just creating beautiful photos that will make people feel good about themselves, and create unforgettable memories that they will want to cherish forever.
What’s your mission and vision?
I would like to offer a safe place to anyone who wants to exist in photographs. To let them be themselves, no judgement, no perfection expected of you. I want to show you how beautiful YOU are, how magical your relationships are.
If it’s a brand shoot I want to make you comfortable enough to show your best, confident, happy self.
Just creating beautiful photos that will make people feel good about themselves, and create unforgettable memories that they will want to cherish forever.
What drives you forwards when otherwise you might just give up?
I always think of the magic that I can do with my lens. I try to remember my clients faces when they see the end results. That keeps me motivated and gives me enough power to keep pushing forward.
